Do ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude Recommend Your Business?

This may be one of the most important questions a business owner can ask in 2026, and most of them still haven't checked the answer. When a potential customer asks an AI engine for a recommendation in your field — what exactly does the engine answer? Does it mention you? Does it describe you correctly? And does it, perhaps, recommend your competitor instead?

Why it's worth checking this yourself
Unlike Google, where it's easy to see where you rank, the answers of AI engines change from question to question and from user to user. It's easy to assume everything is fine — but that assumption can be costly. Not infrequently you'll discover that the engine describes a business partially, attributes to it services it doesn't offer, or simply skips over it in favour of competitors who managed to establish a clearer presence.
What might come to light in a check
The business isn't mentioned at all — the engine simply doesn't "know" you well enough to recommend you. There are five common reasons for this.
An inaccurate description — incorrect details about your field, location, or service — sometimes even hallucinations.
More prominent competitors — other businesses appear ahead of you because they established authority and clarity.
An inconsistent message — different engines tell a different story about the same business.
How to check — in broad strokes
You can start on your own: open ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity and ask a few questions a real customer would ask — "Who provides service X in area Y?", "What are your recommendations for a business in field Z?". Notice whether you come up, how you're described, and who appears alongside you. This is an excellent starting point, but it gives a partial picture — the answers change, and it's hard to draw a systematic conclusion from them.
From a partial picture to a full diagnosis
To get a reliable picture you need to check all the engines systematically, compare to competitors, and translate what's revealed into actions. That's exactly why we built the AI Visibility Audit: it does this work for you and returns a clear picture with an action plan.
The next step
Want to know how ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity understand your specific business? The AI Visibility Audit is a one-time business diagnostic ($69, no subscription) that shows exactly what AI engines understand about your business, how you compare to competitors, and what's worth improving — with a ranked action plan, three checks over 60 days, and unlimited access to our members-only guide library.
One honest note: no tool and no expert can guarantee appearance in AI engine answers. The goal is to significantly improve the odds that your business is understood correctly, surfaces, and gets recommended.
