What's Really the Difference Between Wix's AI Visibility Overview and the Business Visibility Report?

Wix launched a genuinely important tool — AI Visibility Overview, which for the first time gives a glimpse into how AI engines see your business. That's a leap forward. But there's a huge difference between knowing a number and knowing what to do with it. Let's look at it through an example.
Let's be clear up front: Wix is a giant player, and this tool only proves how far ahead of the market they are. We're not competing with Wix — as a Wix agency we rely on them and appreciate them. Our audit doesn't come in place of their tool; it adds a layer of depth on top of it.
In short: Wix's tool analyzes your website and answers "how often do I appear?". The AI Visibility Audit is a business review — it answers "why, against whom, and what do I do now?".
(Throughout this article we'll use "Botani — Natural Cosmetics," a sample business, to illustrate. The numbers are illustrative only.)

What Wix gives — and it's genuinely good
Let's start with fairness: Wix's tool is excellent as a starting point, free, and built into the dashboard. For Botani it shows a visibility score for each engine, a list of questions in which she appears or is absent, a competitor table, and the sources the AI drew its information from. Until a year ago a small business had no way to see this at all. That's real value, and hats off to Wix for building it.
Where it stops: "So what now?"
Say Wix shows Botani a score of 20% on ChatGPT, and that she's absent from 16 of 20 questions. Good that she knows — but now come the hard questions: why is she absent? Which fix should she run first? What moves the needle fastest? Wix's own answer is generic — "improve your SEO." True, but that's not a plan. There are five common reasons a business gets skipped, and the tool doesn't tell you which one is yours.
There are other built-in limitations: the check covers 3 engines, the questions are generated automatically from a few fields, and the tool doesn't show data until there are 50+ unique visitors in 30 days — so a new business like Botani, on launch day, simply sees "not enough visitors."
The competitors: who chooses them, and why it matters
An important point that's easy to miss: on Wix, the competitors are chosen automatically, algorithmically, according to the category the system identifies. That's efficient — but sometimes the list includes very broad players (on our own site, Wix itself shows up as a competitor) who aren't necessarily the businesses actually fighting you for the same customer. The audit starts from the other side: from the business's real competitive landscape — who really competes for Botani's customer, and why they win.
What the audit adds — for Botani
A business review, not just a website: Wix analyzes the domain; we analyze the business — positioning, target audience and the competitive landscape — not just what's written on the site.
Real competitors, not automatic ones: not a list the system picked, but the competitors genuinely relevant to your business.
A diagnosis instead of a number: not just "Botani 20%," but exactly why she's absent from "natural cosmetics near me" — and what's blocking her.
Weighted business dimensions: analysis across real business dimensions that reflect how a customer actually chooses, not a few automatic fields.
4 engines including Claude: Wix checks three. We add Claude, used by an increasingly business-heavy audience.
Three checks over 60 days: a dashboard tells you where you are today. The audit re-runs all four engines now, at +30 days and at +60 days — so Botani can actually see whether the fixes worked.
The guides that get it done: every recommendation links straight to a members-only guide that walks through the fix — unlimited access, no time limit.
Works from day one: no 50-visitor threshold. Botani gets direction even on launch day, when she needs it most.
A prioritized plan: not "improve SEO," but "start with X, then Y" — ordered by what will have the fastest impact.
The difference in one sentence
Wix's tool analyzes the website; we analyze the business. Their excellent tool gives Botani a thermometer — the audit gives her a diagnosis and a prescription.
Frequently asked questions
If Wix already provides this for free, why do you need an audit? Because a number without a diagnosis and without a plan doesn't change the outcome. The tool shows there's a fever; the audit says why, and how to treat it.
Does the audit replace Wix's tool? Not at all — it complements it. Use Wix's tool for ongoing, free monitoring, and the audit when you need to know exactly what to do and in what order.
Why shouldn't I rely on Wix's competitor list? You can, as a starting point. But if the list includes players who don't really compete with you, the conclusions are biased. A business review starts from the right competitors.
